Get all the facts you need to make the best choice for your health and future. You are not alone in your journey.
Abortion
There are two types of abortion procedures done at different points of pregnancy. A first-trimester abortion is a medical abortion. It consists of two drugs: mifepristone and misoprostol. This procedure is FDA-approved for women through their first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
A surgical abortion is typically done later in pregnancy, which involves a medical procedure that causes the cervix to dilate. Special tools are used to surgically remove the pregnancy and any associated tissue from the uterus.
Along with the many physical risks, abortion comes with an increase in women’s potential mental health challenges. Some women experience the following:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Substance use disorder
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
Is Adoption Any Easier?
Though adoption comes with its challenges, choosing adoption brings peace of mind that your child is loved and cared for. There is joy in knowing that your child has a hopeful future with many opportunities available to them.
The main types of modern adoption are open, closed, and semi-open adoption plans. You can choose a plan that works for you and continue a relationship with your child if desired.
You may also be eligible for financial or material assistance. With adoption, the birth mother never has to pay for any adoption services.
