You have more than one option when it comes to an unplanned pregnancy. No matter who is pressuring you, you have the final say. Maybe you’ve experienced a traumatic abortion before and know you can’t do that again. You can still choose adoption or parenting with available resources and support!
Choosing Adoption
Adoption today gives the birth parents more control over the process. You choose the future you want for your child because you select the adoptive parents and the plan that is right for you.
Adoption comes in three plans: open, closed, or semi-open. These adoptions vary in communication between the birth mother, adoptive family, and the child. Some allow more communication with the child than others.
- Open Adoption: This is the most common type of adoption. This is a great fit if you want an open relationship with your child and the adoptive family. Identifying information and contact details are shared between parties. Communication can be made through letters, video calls, phone calls, and in person.
- Closed Adoption: Closed adoption involves no contact between the child’s adoptive parents and birth parents. No personal information is shared between the adoptive family and the birth mother.
- Semi-Open Adoption: With this type of adoption, communication between the adoptive family and birth mother is handled through a third- party like an adoption agency.
We at Hope House can help you learn more about adoption and help you better understand the process so you can make an informed decision.
